INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED PLASTIC SURGERY SPECIALIST
Dan is an internationally trained specialist and has performed over 10000 procedures over an 18 year career in plastic and cosmetic surgery. He was awarded one of three national scholarships to train in advanced cosmetic surgery in the UK and USA (facial and oculoplastic), and was a recipient of a European scholarship to train in Vienna.
As well as this, Dan was previously director of the plastic and reconstructive surgery unit based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary – a hospital ranked among the UKβs best by Newsweek & Statista. He is a recognised educator in aesthetic surgery as education lead for The BAAPs and co-director of the internationally renowned Face Course.
He is a frequent invited speaker and has published scientific papers on safety in neck lifting, βpreservationβ techniques in facelifting and eyelid surgery and breast surgery.

Dan is not interested in βselling treatmentsβ which is the common theme in commercial plastic and cosmetic surgery clinic chains. Dan will be clear on expectations and has a premium on safety no matter what. Whilst the major component of Danβs work is advanced facial surgery, he also has an interest in post-pregnancy surgery β we hate the term βmummy makeoverβ! He developed his own breast βauto-augmentationβ procedure to uplift the breasts and has published techniques for post-pregnancy breast rejuvenation.

TEACHING AND TRAINING
Dan is a dedicated trainer (and learner!). Since 2023, he established and co-runs βThe Face Courseβ (https://www.thefacecourse.co.uk) with colleague Bill Townley, teaching international delegates in advanced face and eyelid aesthetic surgery.Β
As a council member for the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (the BAAPs) he has a major role in delivering regional teaching days to plastic surgeons in training and co-ordinating delivery of the cosmetic surgery curriculum. Here, Dan ensures the highest safety and ethical standards for those becoming consultant surgeons.Β
Dan runs a nationally awarded aesthetic fellowship accredited by BAAPs and BAPRAS, providing advanced training for surgeons in aesthetic surgery (https://baaps.org.uk/trainees/aesthetic_fellowship.aspx). Surgeons from around the world also come to the North East to participate in the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery fellowship under his guidance (https://eafps.org/eafps-fellowship-program/).
He is a Specialist Register Plastic Surgeon and Consultant (GMC 6128402) and is listed on the Cosmetic Surgery Register of the Royal College of Surgeons..Β
Overseas and national visitors
Advanced facial plastic surgery is a niche area of aesthetic surgery. To remain at the forefront of this arena we regularly travel to visit other leaders in the field to learn from them and exchange ideas. Dan is a recognized expert and educator and so has regular national and international visitors to observe advanced eyelid and facial surgery.
