Deep Plane Face / Neck Lifts

Our focus on surgical rejuvenation of the face and neck is what is called “Deep Plane” neck and face lift. The is definitely a buzz word/term these days in facial aesthetics

Where does the term come from?

ANDREW JACONO POPULARIZED THE DEEP PLANE FACELIFT IN NEW YORK, THE TECHNIQUE WAS ACTUALLY PIONEERED BY SAM HAMRA MANY YEARS AGO.

Although the modern approach has evolved, Hamra’s original contribution was a major innovation that laid the groundwork for today’s advanced, natural-looking results.

NOW LET’S DO A DEEP DIVE…

Many patients have heard of the SMAS, here are some points about the SMAS, and our fascination with it as facelift surgeons …

SMAS = SUB MUSCULAR APONEUROTIC SYSTEM

This flexible sheet of tissue sits under the skin, and modifying its position is key to a facelift.

The deep plane technique involves GOING UNDER (‘deep’) to the SMAS from its underlying attachments to move it and the skin above it for a natural look.

The SMAS is continuous with the Platysma muscle in the neck – which causes the bands and loose skin we see, which is also lifted as we are under the muscle.

DEEP PLANE FACELIFT AND NECK LIFT

Using the deep plane technique, we lift and reposition the underlying SMAS and connective tissues of the face and neck in a single, smooth plane delivering long-lasting, natural contours without the “stretched” look.

DEEP NECK REDUCTION

This typically adds to the deep plane lift by sculpting the deep structures of the neck for that extra level of longevity and youthful restoration
