The biggest group of patients we treat are those who have had the abdominal skin stretched during pregnancy or weight loss and, the excess skin remains following giving birth. In the majority of cases, no amount of abdominal muscle toning can flatten the excess skin or return fully the core stability, and on occasion skin infections can result from the rubbing of the skin in the tummy crease.
Tummy rejuvenation restores the abdominal contour, improves function and allows you to wear appropriate clothing. In the majority of tummy tucks Mr Saleh also tightens the tummy muscles giving you good support.
Tummy tucks are frequently performed together with breast rejuvenation procedures, but we dislike the term mommy / mummy makeover. It is normal to have stretched skin after pregnancy (or weight loss) and it doesn’t necessarily mean it must be corrected with a ‘makeover’.
Mr Saleh’s hybrid tummy tuck is used in patients that also would benefit from some lift of the upper thigh regions aswell. This doesn’t require additional scars, it is all done using the same tummy tuck incision!

Mini Tummy tuck / Abdominoplasty
This is most common in patients who have had bad c-section scars but don’t need a full tummy tuck. The mini tummy tuck is best performed for patients that have some excess skin, but this excess doesn’t include all the skin around the tummy button (umbilicus). So the excess skin is confined to around the area that the waistband sits just above our pubic hair line. The mini tummy tuck re-contours the lowest part of the tummy and leaves a well concealed scar that is typically shorter than the standard tummy tuck. The downtime is also less.

Where are the scars placed?
Most tummy tuck scars should be designed to remain below the underwear/swimwear line immediately above the pubic hair line. In certain patients there is a midline scar too and this is typically seen in massive weight loss patients. There is alos typically a cut around the tummy button too but the tunmmy button remains in the same place as before.
Do I need liposuction aswell?
Many patients have a ‘lipoabdominoplasty’ which is where certain reas of the tummy and flanks are also liposucked to shape the area better too.
Are my tummy muscles repaired too?
In the vast majority of patients the two vertical muscles in our tummy – the six pack muscles, are separated over time and stretched with pregnancy. It is these muscles that contribute a lot of core stability. The muscle repair is a series of stitches internally that bring the muscles back together in the middle. This is of great benefit for the overall result of surgery and so we normally advise it if on examination there is obvious muscle separation.
