Many patients that had implants inserted young in life do not want to have new implants inserted, they simply want implant removal. There are other reasons want implants removing, such as breast discomfort that doesn’t have obvious other causes, ruptured implants, or asymmetry because implants have moved around under the skin.
Overall we have seen a big increase in requests for this treatment as patients are seeking ‘vegan’ breasts with nothing added. However, very understandably, the appearance of breasts with implants removed alone is a very empty look, and the skin is empty and wrinkled. Therefore we use a procedure that recycles the excess skin that remains after implant removal, and we fashion it into an implant shape to replicate and mimic the implant. This procedure restores the breast shape, and appearance and allows the patient to have a fuller breast volume without the implant.

Where are the scars placed and how long till I’m healed?
The scars are typically in an anchor shape, around the areolar, and down to the imframammry crease and then along the crease to varying lengths (which are still typically hidden). Moat patients are dressing free between 2-3 weeks and the dressings are shower proof so you can self care as normal in the shower.
What the main risks?
Occasionally the point at which all the scars meet under the breast the wound can separate slightly which needs dressings for a few more days. When the breast is moulded back in to a round shape small areas of your fat under the skin can become firm as it heals – this generally settles over a fe months are rarely is visble with the naked eye. One side heals quicker and softens quicker than the other. Occasionally the nipples can be numb for a period, but rarely forever.
When can I wear a proper bra?
We generally advise 8 weeks in a sports bra and then the swelling will have sufficiently settled to allow you to get measured for a proper bra.
