BREAST LIFT / MASTOPEXY: At a glance
A breast lift aims to rejuvenate the appearance of the breast by removing and tightening the skin of the breast to restore the shape and to move the nipple and areola higher in the chest. Mr Saleh also uses a technique he has refined called auto-augmentation’ where he remodels the remaining skin and breast tissue into a rounded implant shape, whilst removing unwanted skin to give you the best chance of longevity, restoration of the clevage and upper breast fullness.
In most cases breast volume is lost following dieting or pregnancy or through the ageing process. This can be significant and an auto-augmentation uplift is not enough to restore the breast appearance. In such cases you may want volume replacement and this is best achieved by using an implant, plus the uplift. This is nearly always done together, in one operation, but on occasions, depending on your case, it may be best done in separate procedures to get the optimal result.
Breast uplift also restores better symmetry and doesn’t compromise the natural feel of the breast. Subseuqent fluctuations in weight, or new pregnancies/breast feeding can affect the long-term result. Gravity always conspires against us to keep the breast high on the chest, and its for this reason, as part of the auto-augmentation, Mr Saleh uses specific stiches to position the breast higher.

Where are the scars placed and how long till I’m healed?
The scars are typically in an anchor shape, around the areolar, and down to the imframammry crease and then along the crease to varying lengths (which are still typically hidden). Moat patients are dressing free between 2-3 weeks and the dressings are shower proof so you can self care as normal in the shower.
What the main risks?
Occasionally the point at which all the scars meet under the breast the wound can separate slightly which needs dressings for a few more days. When the breast is moulded back in to a round shape small areas of your fat under the skin can become firm as it heals – this generally settles over a fe months are rarely is visble with the naked eye. One side heals quicker and softens quicker than the other. Occasionally the nipples can be numb for a period, but rarely forever.
When can I wear a proper bra?
We generally advise 8 weeks in a sports bra and then the swelling will have sufficiently settled to allow you to get measured for a proper bra.
